Camarillo Cadet Completes Civil Air Patrol Initial Flight Training and Solo

Congratulations to C/2ndLt Shane Shoemaker (right) for completing his first solo flight! Cadet Shoemaker is from Civil Air Patrol Camarillo Composite Squadron 61 and attended the 2019 Powered Flight Academy in Mankato, MN. Cadet Shoemaker was also honored with a special award at the Academy which will allow him to pursue further flight training.

Outstanding cadets from the Civil Air Patrol can receive orientation flights and in some cases flight training. Young men and women between to the ages of 12 and 18 are invited to contact the squadron or visit us for our weekly Cadet Meeting on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm (Camarillo Airport - 55 Durley Ave, Camarillo, CA 93010) and explore joining the CAP Cadet Program (https://camarillo.cap.gov/)
